Cleanroom construction procedure

2026/4/21

The core of the construction procedure for cleanrooms is "foundation first, purification later; rough work first, then fine work; full-process dust control". It is necessary to follow the standard procedures to ensure that the cleanliness standards are met.
01 Preparatory work and design stage
Clearly define the core indicators such as cleanliness levels (e.g., ISO 14644-1 Class 1 to 9), temperature and humidity, and pressure difference. Based on the usage scenarios (pharmaceuticals/electronics/medicine), formulate the plan. Complete the construction drawing design, select materials (preferably antibacterial and dust-resistant clean materials), and handle the relevant approval procedures. Form a professional construction team, conduct technical briefings, and clearly define the cleanliness control requirements during the construction process.
02 Foundation Construction Work
Carry out the main structure renovation (such as wall construction, reserved window and door openings), ensuring the structure is flat and free of cracks, and meeting the sealing requirements for the subsequent stage. Lay the ground base layer (such as cement mortar leveling), install pre-installed pipelines (water and electricity, weak electricity, ventilation ducts), to avoid damaging the clean layer by later wall chiseling. Do a good job in building sealing treatment, sealing the wall gaps and the places where pipelines penetrate the walls, to prevent external pollutants from seeping in.
03 Installation of Purification System
Installation of ventilation and air conditioning system: First, install the ductwork (which needs to be cleaned and degreased), then assemble the high-efficiency/ultra-high efficiency filters, fans, and fresh air units, ensuring that the duct connections are sealed without any leakage. Build the air handling unit (AHU), configure the temperature and humidity control system, and the pressure difference control system, and adjust the ratio of fresh air to return air. Install the exhaust system and waste gas treatment equipment (if corrosive or harmful gases are produced).
04 Foundation Structure and Decoration Works
Install clean wall panels (such as color steel plates) and ceilings. The joints of the panels should be sealed with sealant to prevent dust accumulation and air leakage. Lay clean floors (such as PVC floors or epoxy self-leveling floors), requiring seamless, wear-resistant, and easy-to-clean properties. At the junctions with the walls, make arc-shaped treatments. Install clean doors and windows (with good sealing performance and low condensation risk), as well as auxiliary clean equipment such as transfer windows and air shower rooms.
05 Installation of Water Supply, Electricity and Supporting Facilities
Install clean lighting (dust-proof, explosion-proof, no glare), electrical equipment, and line protection with conduit, to avoid dust accumulation and the risk of electric sparks. Lay water supply and drainage pipes (especially pure water and process water pipes), using stainless steel material. The pipe connections have no dead corners, making cleaning and disinfection easy. Install supporting systems such as fire protection and monitoring to ensure that they do not affect the sealing and airflow organization of the clean room.
06 Cleaning and Purification Commissioning
Carry out a thorough cleaning of the interior (first dry wiping, then wet wiping to avoid dust flying), remove the residual dust and debris from the construction. Conduct system debugging: measure the air leakage of the ducts, adjust the air flow distribution (such as single-direction flow/non-single-direction flow), calibrate temperature, humidity and pressure difference. Start the purification system for continuous operation and conduct cleanliness testing (particle counter measures the dust content), and perform microbial testing (if necessary).
07 Acceptance and Delivery Phase

According to the design standards and national regulations (such as GB 50073-2013 "Design Code for Cleanrooms"), a comprehensive inspection and acceptance shall be conducted. The construction documents (drawings, material certificates, test reports, etc.) shall be sorted out and handed over to the owner. The owner shall be provided with operation training, and the requirements for equipment maintenance and daily management of the cleanroom (such as personnel entry and exit regulations, cleaning procedures) shall be clarified.
